Yep, I did it! After 11 weeks, I totally cheated on Nutrisystem but with good reason. Last week we celebrated Jaxon’s first birthday and I rewarded myself with a little cake. Would it really make a difference to cheat just this one time? Mentally I came to the conclusion that I should totally dig in and that is what I did!
I am not sure if it was the sleepless nights with Jaxon, the terrible 2’s with Mollie, or the stressful 5’s with Lucas, but I decided that I totally deserved a piece of birthday cake. Let me tell you, it was worth every calorie just to sink my teeth into butter cream icing. The difference in eating this piece of cake is that it was half the size that I would normally place on my plate. And once I like something, I usually try to squeeze in a second piece without stopping and thinking about if I really needed seconds. That is one of the many habits that being part of Nutrisystem has taught me with thinking about those little cheats or slipping on the diet. And guess what, everyone does it!
This past weekend I attended Blogher12 in NYC, which is a conference for bloggers. I had an opportunity to meet up with Meredith, the Nutrisystem representative that has been guiding me through my 28lb weight loss. I also had a chance to meet some other bloggers who were part of the blogger program. It was so great to sit and chat with people who were all in the same boat and passionate about dropping the weight with Nutrisystem. I sometimes think that people look at me funny when I talk about how much Nutrisystem has changed my life. When I speak to others I feel like people are scared by the passion that I have for the program, and how it has changed my complete outlook on how I feed my family. When we sat down to order everyone just looked around to see who was going to order what off the menu. We all realize that it’s ok to break away from the program, especially when on vacation. Some of the girls ordered salads while others ordered french fries. I never realized that the calorie intake on the salad were equal to the calories in the french fries. It’s crazy what you learn when you really pay attention to dining menus. And, it was great to hear that everyone was cheating every now and then.
I ended up trying to sick to the program as much as possible, but realized in the end that if you don’t cheat every once in awhile and reward yourself for good behavior, then it’s not worth it in the end. It’s ok to cheat if you tell yourself that it’s only this time or when you reach a certain goal. I plan on rewarding myself once a week in moderation- I didn’t gain any weight and realize it’s ok to cheat on Nutrisystem 🙂
